WASHINGTON -- Oreo has attempted to capture the flavors of pink lemonade, birthday cake and banana split in its compact cookie sandwiches, and now the company is out with a new flavor -- one that's a throwback to America's old soda parlors.

The limited-edition Root Beer Float Oreos are on the shelves, and Foodbeast reports the root beer and vanilla crème-filled golden cookies are delicious.

Foodbeast taste-testers say they even discerned a hint of carbonation in the cookies -- "possibly from the baking soda, but also possibly from our over-eager imaginations," the publication writes.

So next time you're craving a float, but are out of ice cream and root beer, reach for a cookie instead.
