Police: Teen wearing stolen tux arrested at prom

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a Northern Arizona teenager sporting a stolen tuxedo was arrested at a high school prom after the store owner spotted him in the formalwear.

Police say Kyle Laderoot faces a felony charge after a business owner saw him wearing the tuxedo stolen from her Prescott Valley store. The 18-year-old is accused of breaking a window and taking the $600 tuxedo off a mannequin.

The arrest happened at a Prescott Valley charter school’s prom in Jerome.

Prescott Valley police Sgt. Brandon Bonney says the store owner accompanied Jerome police to the prom and identified the tuxedo by color, style and its designer label.

Bonney says Laderoot gave authorities conflicting statements. He’s been appointed a public defender, but court documents don’t name an attorney.
