D.C. college ranked one of 'greenest campuses'

WASHINGTON -- During this season of college acceptance letters, high school students across the country are making difficult decisions about where to spend their next four years. To aid in this process, the website Niche compiles weekly ranked lists of a variety of factors, the most recent of which has placed American University in the top three.

American University is the third "greenest campus," following Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif., and UC Santa Cruz, according to Niche. This data is based on the number of LEED-certified facilities and sustainability initiatives, and the scores that are used in rankings are calculated using reviews, polls and statistics on this subject.
