WASHINGTON - The mayor of Sugar Land, Texas, on Tuesday will announce whether the city of 80,000 will rename itself after the dating website, SugarDaddie.com, for $4.65 million.
The dating site that links rich older men with younger women wants Sugar Land to become the first-dating sponsored city in the U.S., Time reports.
If the city agrees to the deal, everything would be renamed "SugarDaddie," including local landmarks, the fire department and the regional airport.
Sugar Land Mayor James A. Thompson turned down SugarDaddie.com's first offer of $500,000, calling SugarDaddie's effort clever marketing. Thompson says the city in the Houston suburbs has an assessed value of $10 billion.
Thompson announces his final decision at noon Tuesday.
