NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Commercial fishermen who lost equipment during Hurricane Irene are being encouraged to report their losses.
The Virginia Marine Resources Commission says losses will be tabulated by each county's emergency services coordinators and reported to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. The information could be useful should disaster assistance become available.
The Marine Resources Commission has received scattered reports that some commercial fishing gear was damaged by the hurricane.
