In time for Labor Day, gas prices lowest in 3 years

WASHINGTON – The average price of gas across the country is $3.54 a gallon — the lowest in three years.

AAA reports that nationally, gas prices are 18 cents less than a year ago and they’ve fallen 9 cents since the beginning of August.

In the D.C area, people are filling up their tanks for an average $3.56 a gallon. This time last year it was $3.72.

That could be good news for 30 million Americans expected to travel 50 miles or more from home over the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
