WASHINGTON - You can spend anywhere from $60 to thousands of dollars for a gas grill.

Consumer Reports says the least expensive are portable gas grills and lower priced models have, at least, some stainless steel trim, side burners for side dishes and other perks once found only on the most expensive grills.

These medium-sized grills are your best buys at around $250:

• The Brinkman 810-2545-W

• The Aussie Vantage series 67C3

• The Char-Broil Classic

When buying a new grill, Consumer Reports suggests keeping the basics in mind: smooth and sturdy cart design, even cooking ability, premium grates and maybe a grease tray.
