Money Magazine: Ditch cable — pay less for movies, shows

WASHINGTON – With cable costs so high, you may be looking for cheaper alternatives, and they are out there.

It could be a lot cheaper to get your favorite movies and shows online, according to Money Magazine.

And now there are several alternatives to cable, including Netlix, Hulu and Amazon.

Hulu Plus, which caters more to the TV junkie, costs $8 a month. Subscribers can get full seasons and full series runs of their favorite network and cable TV shows.

Netflix is designed more for the movie buff and offers instant streaming films from many different genres. It also costs $8 a month.

Amazon can be less expensive than cable too, but Netflix has a better selection. Amazon charges $80 a year for its prime service.

One of the benefits to subscribing to a cable alternative is the ability to watch shows and movies on a computer or a tablet. Most services offer an app that can be downloaded from the Android Market or Apple App Store.
