WASHINGTON -- Afternoon trains on MARC's Brunswick Line will run at reduced speeds because of the heat.
Riders should expect delays of 5 minutes to 15 minutes.
The Maryland Transit Administration says trains with fewer stops are more likely to see longer delays.
Heat-related delays or heat orders occur when CSX Transportation reduces maximum train speeds by 20 mph.
The speed reduction occurs under one or both of the following conditions:
- The temperature exceeds 85 degrees.
- A 25-degree temperature swing happens in a 24-hour period.
When heat orders are in effect, CSX has inspectors checking the tracks.
