Metro rebuilding efforts continue this weekend, expect delays

WASHINGTON – Metro rebuilding efforts will continue through the weekend of Jan. 31, with work performed on all subway lines except the Green Line.

Service adjustments begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue through system closing on Sunday.

  • Red Line: Crews will work to improve track infrastructure, including rail joint elimination and fastener replacement between Farragut North and Van Ness.
  • Shady Grove to Glenmont: Trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Farragut North to Silver Spring: Trains will operate every 12 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. only.
  • Orange Line: Crews will perform major platform reconstruction at Minnesota Avenue and Deanwood stations. Trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Blue Line: Work will involve improvements to track infrastructure, including joint rail elimination, rail and fastener renewal between Pentagon City and Arlington Cemetery stations. Trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Yellow Line: Work includes improvements to track infrastructure, including rail joint elimination, rail and fastener renewal between Pentagon City and L’Enfant Plaza Stations.

    Yellow Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.

    All Yellow Line trains will run to and from Mt. Vernon Square rather than Fort Totten.

    Traveling to and from stations north of Mt. Vernon Square use Green Line and transfer at Mt. Vernon Square.

  • Green Line: Regular weekend service.
