Cracked rail causes single-tracking on Metro’s Orange Line

WASHINGTON – Metro is warning of delays on the Orange Line due to a cracked rail.

Trains are single-tracking between East Falls Church and Ballston while repairs on the rail are underway. The work is expected to be complete before the evening rush.

Metro spokeswoman Morgan Dye says the crack likely is weather-related.

Commuters on the transit system’s Red Line also faced delays and single-tracking Wednesday morning due to a hanging cable in the tunnel near the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station. Those repairs were completed by mid-morning.
