QUANTICO, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect significant delays late Friday night and early Saturday on southbound Interstate 95 in Prince William and Stafford counties.
VDOT says southbound I-95 will be closed entirely for an hour from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday at mile marker 147 near Quantico. Prior to that, one lane will close at 9:30 p.m. Friday and a second lane will close at 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Lane closures will remain until about 9 a.m. Saturday.
The closure is part of construction for the 95 Express Lanes Project.
VDOT says traffic will be diverted onto U.S. 1 and that drivers should expect delays of up to 25 minutes on both highways.
If bad weather intervenes, the work will be delayed until Saturday night.
