Metro debates fare hikes

WASHINGTON – Metro’s board of directors will debate fare hikes at a meeting Thursday.

The transit authority is trying to finalize a list of potential fare increases to take to the public for comment.

Metro says the hikes are necessary to help close a budget gap.

The earliest any fare hike could take effect is July.
