McLEAN, Va. (AP) - Overnight construction work this weekend on the Capital Beltway in Tysons Corner will require closures of the southbound lanes.
On Friday and Saturday nights, starting at 9:30 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation will close one southbound lane beginning at Exit 45 for the Dulles Toll Road. By 11 p.m., all southbound lanes will be closed. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 8 a.m. the next day.
Authorities expect the detours could delay motorists by up to 20 minutes at the peak time, estimated to be between 11 p.m. and midnight.
Toll Road users also will not be able to exit onto southbound Interstate 495.
The construction will allow the placement of steel beams for a project to add high-occupancy toll lanes to the beltway.
