WASHINGTON - Multiple lanes of Interstate 95 in the Lorton area will be closed for road work beginning Wednesday night.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is warning motorists to expect delays on southbound I-95 for the next three weeks.
Beginning Wednesday and also on Thursday, three lanes on I-95 between exit 161 and 163 will close between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The closures initially were expected to begin Monday night.
The I-95 High Occupancy Vehicle lanes will be open southbound to all traffic from 6 p.m. to midnight each night.
The lane closures will continue for the next two weeks, Aug. 15 to 18 and Aug. 22 to 25.
The lane closures may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
