COLUMBIA, Md. - The Howard Hughes Corp. has bought a nine-story office building next to The Mall in Columbia.
Hughes purchased the former Ryland Group headquarters last week. The Baltimore Sun ( http://bsun.md/SjbjAZ) reports that the building is close to land upon which Hughes plans to build a $100 million apartment and retail complex.
The property is known as 70 Corporate Center. With nearly 170,000 square feet of space, it is one of Columbia's largest office buildings.
