Erratic driving leads to fatal wreck on Route 100 Wednesday

WASHINGTON -- A man who was driving erratically and speeding in Maryland on Wednesday was killed after losing control of the truck he was driving on Route 100, according to a Maryland State Police news release.

Police have not identified the man, who is described as white and was driving alone when he crashed, the release states.

The incident happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. when a state trooper saw a blue 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup swerving in the southbound lanes of Route 10. The trooper clocked the truck going 82 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper followed the man as he drove extremely erratically, at one point driving in the median of the road and at another point doing a 360 degree turn in the road, when the man turned onto Route 100 and lost control of the truck.

The driver was not the registered owner of the truck, the release states. The truck is not believed to have been stolen.
