WASHINGTON - The effects of Hurricane Irene are still being felt by school children in the D.C. area.
Calvert and St. Mary's County public schools will be closed Wednesday.
Howard County public schools are open with the exception of Atholton High School due to a power outage.
Only Glenarden Woods Elementary in Prince George's County is closed.
Updates will be posted on the school district website.
In Anne Arundel County, about 15 schools are closed. They are:
- Arlington Echo
- Arnold Elementary
- Cape St. Claire Elementary
- Carrie Weedon Science Center
- Chesapeake Science Point
- Crofton Woods Elementary
- Eastport Elementary
- Four Seasons Elementary
- Glen Burnie Park Elementary
- Marley Glen Special School
- Maryland City Elementary
- Overlook Elementary
- Shady Side Elementary
- Solley Elementary
- Windsor Farm Elementary
Essential and emergency personnel at the schools that are closed should report to their work locations as required.
Parents whose children are going to school are likely to encounter issues related to outages, bus delays and traffic backups. They are urged to allow additional time to transport children to bus stops or school.
