UNDATED - Forbes is out with its list of the 10 wealthiest communities in the country, and the City of Falls Church is ground zero with a median household income of $113,313.

Right behind Falls Church is Loudoun County, followed by Fairfax County. Median income in Loudoun comes in at $112,021, while Fairfax County boasts a median income of $104,259.

Howard County, Md. makes the richest counties list at No. 5 and Fairfax City, Va. is No. 10.

Part of the region's prosperity can be attributed to government jobs and defense contracting.
