WASHINGTON -- A lot of people feel pressure to check their email even when they're not at work or on vacation. But all those emails can be overwhelming.

A new study says the average worker now checks email 74 times a day, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Researchers have found significant benefits for people who are cut off from their email, including less distraction and less stress.

The Wall Street Journal reports some smaller companies are experimenting with new open-messaging programs that eliminate email. But for larger companies, email is still king.
