(AP) - THE FILING AND SALE: Digital Domain Media Group Inc., the digital production company founded by director James Cameron, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and reached a deal to sell its main business to a private investment firm for $15 million.
THE AUCTION: The Port St. Luicie-based company's deal with Searchlight Capital Partners LP remains subject to an auction process and must be approved by the court.
THE COMPANY: Best known for its work on Cameron's "Titanic," Digital Domain had produced visual effects for more than 90 movies, including "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" and the "Transformers" series.
