(AP) - GREATER ACCESS: An American business group said Friday that China has eased restrictions on foreign companies in parts of its insurance, travel and delivery industries in an apparent effort to reverse a slide in investment from abroad.

TIMING UNUSUAL: Christian Murck, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, said some of the measures were promised in talks with U.S. officials in May. Beijing doesn't publicize many of its regulatory changes.

DECLINING INVESTMENT: The commerce ministry said this week that foreign direct investment in China declined in August for a third month. It blamed economic weakness in the United States and Europe.
