Suspect arrested in College Park motel murder

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police officers have arrested a suspect in the Wednesday murder of 25-year-old Catina Cortes at a College Park motel.

At a press conference on Friday, county police announced it arrested Vaughn Darvell Bellamy, 25, of Northeast D.C., and Barry Foxx, 24, of Temple Hills. Bellamy has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and a gun charge. Foxx is charged with accessory after the fact.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, county patrol officers were called to the Ramada Inn along Baltimore Avenue. When they arrived, officers found Cortes suffering from an apparent gun shot wound in one of the motel’s second- floor rooms.

Bellamy and Foxx were arrested at Foxx’s home early Friday morning. A handgun was recovered inside the home that detectives think is the murder weapon.

The investigation reveals Bellamy and Cortes agreed to meet at the motel and exchange money for sex. Foxx drove Bellamy from the scene. Both suspects are in custody at the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.
