WASHINGTON (AP) -- A former Prince George's County police officer has admitted to telling two people about wiretaps being used during an investigation into drug-dealing in Washington.

Thirty-eight-year-old Vanessa Edwards-Hamm pleaded guilty on Tuesday to making an unlawful disclosure of wire, oral or electronic communications. She faces a maximum of five years in prison at sentencing in March.

Edwards-Hamm agreed to resign from the Prince George's County Police Department.

According to the government's evidence, Edwards-Hamm learned in February that federal agents had wiretapped the brother of a friend in a drug investigation.

Prosecutors say Edwards-Hamm also told her own brother about the wiretaps and urged him to stay away from the man.
