Montgomery, Prince George’s cos. to consider minimum wage bills

The Montgomery and Prince George’s county councils on Tuesday introduced bills to raise the minimum wage to $11.50 per hour, The Washington Post reported.

Maryland requires applicable employers to pay $7.25 per hour, the current federal minimum wage. That amounts to about $15,000 a year for a full-time employee. Sponsors of both bills said the wage is unjustly low, especially in a region where living costs are so high.
