UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County teachers have ratified a new three-year contract that will give them a 2 percent cost-of-living pay raise.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/17HWpu6 ) reports the Board of Education approved the contract, and the Prince George's County Educators' Association ratified the contract after the board's vote last week. The union represents 9,200 teachers.

The pay raise will be retroactive to July 1.

Kenneth Haines, head of the teachers union, says he hopes the new contract helps the county retain good teachers.
