Man arrested for sexual assaults in Prince George’s Co.

WASHINGTON – A Hyattsville man has been arrested in connection with two sexual assaults in Prince George’s County, and police are investigating whether he may be responsible for more.

Prince George’s County police say Edwin Xavier Rivas, 24, was arrested Saturday in the 3100 block of Hamilton Street Hyattsville, Md. without incident.

One of the assaults happened Jan. 28 in Mount Rainer. Police say a woman reported being grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted by a man armed with a knife around 2:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Buchannan Street.

Rivas has also been charged in a sexual assault being investigated by the Hyattsville Police Department, and police are looking into the possibility that he may be responsible for other sexual assaults.
