RICHMOND, Va. - Those who purchase the Blu-Ray version of Lincoln will get a little something extra: a pitch to visit Virginia.
The 3-minute mini-documentary will feature director Steven Spielberg and other key players involved in the production of the movie describing their impressions of the region and why they chose to film the movie in Virginia.
The movie was filmed entirely in Virginia in 2011.
Virginia tourism officials hope the documentary will be as successful as the popular "Walk in the Footsteps" marketing campaign, which encouraged visitors to visit the places where the movie was filmed. Officials have said the total impact of the film was $64.1 million.
Virginia Film Office Directors Andrew Edmunds called the mini-documentary a "permanent marketing gift for the Commonwealth."
