LOS ANGELES (AP) - Claire Danes of "Homeland" has won the Emmy Award for best actress in a drama.
Danes plays Carrie Mathison, a CIA officer who suspects that a former POW is a double agent in the critically-praised Showtime drama. The series begins its second season later this month.
She beat last year's winner, Julianna Margulies of CBS' "The Good Wife." Other nominees were Elisabeth Moss of AMC's "Mad Men," Kathy Bates of NBC's "Harry's Law," Michelle Dockery of PBS' "Downton Abbey" and Glenn Close of DirecTV's "Damages."
The 64th Primetime Emmys are airing live from the Nokia Theatre L.A., with Jimmy Kimmel as host.
