CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia man who was a personal assistant and financial manager for Dave Matthews Band violinist Boyd Tinsley has been sentenced to nine months in federal prison for embezzlement.
A federal judge approved a plea agreement for 39-year-old Getty Andrew Rothenberg on Friday in Charlottesville.
The Daily Progress (http://bit.ly/1bgy8hS) reports the plea agreement listed Tinsley's loss between $1 million and $2.5 million. Under the agreement, Rothenberg will pay back $1.25 million to Tinsley.
Rothenberg pleaded guilty to wire fraud in July.
Court records show Rothenberg inflated invoices for bills to Tinsley and pocketed the difference. He also withdrew cash and wrote checks to himself from Tinsley's bank accounts. Tinsley confronted Rothenberg about the missing funds in 2012.
Tinsley is a Charlottesville native who joined the band in 1991.
