Former teacher held in shooting deaths of four

Thursday - 8/8/2013, 4:40pm  ET

DALLAS (AP) -- Authorities say the man who's been arrested in the fatal shooting of four people at a pair of homes in the Dallas area is a former teacher who moonlighted as a hip-hop dancer entertaining NBA crowds.

Police arrested Erbie Bowser last night at the second crime scene. They're investigating whether a grenade or other explosive may have been used in one of the attacks.

In addition to the four people who were killed, four were wounded.

Police are describing the attacks as a domestic incident. They're trying to determine Bowser's connection to the victims.

In the first attack, at a home in southwest Dallas, there were four gunshot victims. A mother and daughter were killed, and a teenage boy and girl were wounded. Police say the gunman then fled to DeSoto, about 10 miles away, where two women were killed. Two boys, ages 11 and 13, were shot but survived.

A school district spokeswoman says Bowser worked for nearly a decade as a special education teacher in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite.

The Dallas Mavericks say he had been a dancer for the team, part of a group of men who entertain fans during games. He was with that group until 2009.
