LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The History channel's March miniseries, "The Bible," has been nominated for three Emmy Awards.
The ten-hour dramatization of Bible stories attracted more than ten million viewers each of the five Sundays it was on cable. It's been nominated for best miniseries or movie, best sound mixing and best sound editing.
Actress Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett have agreed to produce a sequel to "The Bible" to be broadcast on NBC. Titled "A.D.: Beyond the Bible," it will trace the beginnings of Christianity after Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. The couple also is preparing a three-hour movie version of "The Bible" focusing on Jesus, titled "Son of God."
The Emmy Awards ceremony will air Sept. 22 on CBS.
