Reggae band leader hit with bottle continues tour

Tuesday - 5/21/2013, 7:20am  ET

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The manager for a reggae band leader hit in the head with a bottle during a Richmond concert says he's doing better and holds no grudges against the community.

Frederick "Toots" Hibbert was treated for a cut to his head and released from a hospital Saturday night. His band Toots and the Maytals had performed at the Dominion Riverrock outdoor sports and music festival. The band stopped playing after he was hit.

Band manager Mike Cacia tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/10fWzDb) that Hibbert performed at a concert Sunday night in Westhampton Beach, N.Y. Cacia says Hibbert only holds the bottle thrower responsible.

Police charged 19-year-old William C. Lewis of Henrico with aggravated assault and public intoxication. A Richmond jail spokeswoman says Lewis remained in jail on $3,500 bond Monday night.
