RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The influence of women through Virginia's four centuries is now the subject of a book.

Copies of "Changing History: Women through Four Centuries" is on sale at the Library of Virginia in Richmond. Two of the three authors will discuss their scholarship at a program at the library on March 19.

The book chronicles the critical role women played in the civil rights and feminist movements, as well in professional and business circles.

The library says the book builds on the legacy of the Virginia Women's Cultural History project, which was launched in 1982 by then-Virginia first lad Lynda Robb.

The authors of "Changing History" are George Mason University history professor Cynthia A. Kierner, editor Jennifer R. Loux, and Clemson University historian Megan Taylor Shockley.
