Mourning, Dawes in White House nutrition video

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is getting an assist from some A-list athletes for first lady Michelle Obama’s campaign for childhood nutrition.

Former NBA star Alonzo Mourning appears in a new video released to promote the Let’s Move! Campaign. The video shows White House press secretary Josh Earnest behind his podium complaining he’s tired, hot and hungry. Out from the corner comes Mourning, offering snow peas and hummus for a quick afternoon snack.

Presidential chef Sam Kass says White House staffers are looking beyond coffee and tea for a pick-me-up. The video shows Olympic athletes Allyson Felix and Dominique Dawes taking a turn as “lunch ladies” at the White House Mess. On the menu: black bean veggie burgers and almond milk smoothies with spinach, kiwi and apples.
