RICHMOND, Va. - Keith Gill is the new athletic director at the University of Richmond.
President Edward L. Ayers says Gill will be introduced on Nov. 5. He has been the athletic director at American University since 2007.
Gill, 40, will replace Jim Miller, who announced in July that he is taking to a new role as a special assistant to Ayers with a focus on athletic alumni relations and fundraising.
American has had unprecedented success during Gill's term. The school won 25 conference championships and made its first two trips to the NCAA tournament in men's basketball. He has also worked twice for the NCAA and held senior athletic administration positions at Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.
