Ryan Dalziel takes Brickyard Grand Prix pole

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Defending race winner Ryan Dalziel earned his first IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship pole position of the season Thursday in qualifying for Friday’s Brickyard Grand Prix.

Dalziel had a fast lap of 113.145 mph around the 2.439-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in the No. 1 Honda ARX-03b Prototype. He led a 1-2 sweep for the Extreme Speed Motorsports team, with Johannes van Overbeek qualifying second at 112.744 in the No. 2 Honda Prototype.

Giancarlo Fisichella, who competed in every Formula One race held at Indianapolis, took the GT Le Mans class pole in the No. 62 Ferrari with a lap at 106.587.

Colin Braun qualified first in the Prototype Challenge class at 109.963 in the No. 54 ORECA/Chevrolet, and Dane Cameron took the GT Daytona class pole at 102.029 in the No. 94 BMW.
