DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Jimmie Johnson pulled ahead of defending NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski on the final restart and captured his second Daytona 500. The five-time Sprint Cup champion wasn't really challenged over the final six laps. Dale Earnhardt Jr., the 2004 Daytona 500 winner, finished second for the third time in the last four season-opening races. Mark Martin was third, followed by Keselowski.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Danica Patrick began the Daytona 500 as the first female pole-sitter and became the first woman to lead laps in the season-opening Cup event. She was in front for five laps along the way and sat third on the last lap before getting shuffled back to an eighth-place finish. It's the best showing by a woman in the history of the Great American Race.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Eighteenth-ranked Ohio State got the best of No. 4 Michigan State 68-60, dropping the Spartans a game and a-half behind Big Ten leader and top-ranked Indiana. Buckeyes guard Aaron Craft scored a game-high 21 points and dished out six assists. Michigan State is 22-6 after suffering back-to-back losses for the first time this season.

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have added another game to their NHL-record, season-opening point streak. Corey Crawford stopped 28 shots and Andrew Shaw scored the lone goal as the Hawks blanked Columbus 1-0. The Hawks are 15-0-3, taking 33 of a possible 36 points during their record-setting streak.

MARANA, Ariz. (AP) -- Matt Kuchar (KOO'-chur) beat defending champion Hunter Mahan (MAY'-han) 2 and 1 in the final of the Match Play Championship. It was the first all-American final at the WGC event in five years. Mahan was trying to join Tiger Woods as the only repeat winners of the 15-year-oild tournament.
