The first female pole-sitter is also the first woman driver to lead a lap in a NASCAR Cup race, snatching the lead from Michael Waltrip on lap 90 after a series of pit stops under yellow.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart and 2007 race winner Kevin Harvick were knocked out of the Daytona 500 in a nine-car wreck early in the Great American Race. Harvick misses out on a chance to become the first driver to win the exhibition Sprint Unlimited, a twin qualifying race and the Daytona 500 in the same Speedweeks.
MARAN, Ariz. (AP) -- Matt Kuchar (KOO'-chur) was 2 up on defending champion Hunter Mahan (MAY'-han) after five holes of the Match Play Championship final. Hunter beat Ian Poulter and Kuchar topped Jason Day by identical 4 and 3 scores in this morning's semifinals.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- Defending champion David Ferrer (feh-REHR') beat Stanislas Wawrinka (vah-VINK'-ah) 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the championship match of the Copa Claro tournament in Buenos Aires. It's the Spaniard's second title of the year and 20th of his career.
