In afternoon affairs involving top-10 teams, top-ranked Indiana is home for a Big Ten encounter with Purdue while fifth-ranked Gonzaga (gahn-ZAG'-uh) is at San Francisco and No. 7 Florida is at Auburn.
HOUSTON (AP) -- NBA All-Star weekend continues today in Houston with the pre-game exhibitions, including the slam dunk contest and three-point contest. The game itself is being played tomorrow.
UNDATED (AP) -- Just one of the NHL's seven games on tap today will be played this afternoon, and it's Tampa Bay at Florida in a matchup of struggling teams. The Lightning have lost six straight since opening the season 6-1, and the Panthers are tied for last in the Eastern Conference at 4-6-3.
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- South Korea's Sang-Moon Bae and Fredrik Jacobson were co-leaders when the third round of the PGA's Northern Trust Open began at Riviera. Both players fired 6-under-par 65s yesterday for a 9-under total, one shot ahead of John Merrick and John Rollins. Luke Donald was two strokes back at minus-7.
NAPLES, Fla. (AP) -- Bernhard Langer (LAHN'-gur) was the leader heading into the second round of the Champions Tour event in Naples, Florida. Langer yesterday fired a 10-under-par 62 that included an eagle and five birdies on the back nine for a three-shot edge over Bob Tway. Tom Pernice (pur-NEES') Jr., Jay Don Blake and John Huston opened with 66s.
