Last year: Nick Watney won at The Mines Resort, closing with a course-record 10-under 61. Bo Van Pelt and Robert Garrigus were a stroke back. Tiger Woods tied for fourth.

Last week: Webb Simpson won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas for his fourth tour title, shooting 64-63-67-66 for a six-stroke victory. ... Australia's Scott Hend won the Macau Open by three strokes for his third Asian Tour victory of the year.

Notes: The tournament is an official PGA Tour event for the first time. The winner will receive a two-year PGA Tour exemption and a spot in the Masters. ... Last week: South Korea's Jin Jeong won the Perth International, beating England's Ross Fisher with a par on the first hole of a playoff.

Notes: The tournament opens the four-event Final Series. The World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions is next week, also in Shanghai, followed by the Turkish Airlines Open in Antalya and the World Tour Championship in Dubai. ... McIlroy, the 2011 winner, and Hanson are in the field along with FedEx Cup champion Henrik Stenson, Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Louis Oosthuizen and Martin Kaymer. ... Last week: Amy Yang won the KEB HanaBank Championship in South Korea, birdieing the first hole of a playoff to beat South Korean compatriot Hee Kyung Seo.

Notes: Taiwan's Yani Tseng won the inaugural event in 2011. Winless in 41 LPGA Tour since the 2012 Kia Classic, she has tumbled from first to 25th in the world ranking in seven months. ... Pettersen has three victories this year. She tied for third last week in South Korea. ... Michelle Wie also is coming off a third-place tie last week. ... The tour is off next week. The five-event Asian swing will end Nov. 8-10 with the Mizuno Classic in Japan.

Last week: Michael Allen won the Greater Hickory Classic for his second Champions Tour victory of the year, beating Olin Browne with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.

Notes: The top 30 on the money list after the tournament will advance to the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship next week at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. ... Kenny Perry leads the Charles Schwab Cup standings, 494 points ahead of second-place Langer. ... Fred Couples won in 2011, shooting 62-62-66 for a seven-stroke victory. The former University of Houston player missed the event last year because of a back injury.
