WASHINGTON -- Kelley Rogers says there's absolutely nothing in her husband's background that would explain his sudden disappearance.
Martin John Rogers, who goes by John, was last seen after leaving his Gaithersburg home for work on August 21. Now, police are looking for the 54-year-old man, who works as a Program Officer of Parasitology and International Programs at the National Institutes of Health.
Kelley Rogers says friends and family are fanning out to find him. "This is totally atypical," she says of her husband's disappearance. "He's just the most steady, reliable person in general."
There have been reported sightings of Rogers, a white man with silver and white hair.
Police say there have been a number of possible sightings of Rogers along the C&O Canal near Poolesville.
There's been another reported sighting near Cumberland, Maryland. Kelley Rogers says that her husband has no particular connection to those areas, which also puzzles family and friends.
Rogers was last seen wearing a green checked shirt and khakis and he was driving his blue 2001 Audi A-4 with a Maryland license plate: 1BF6739.
Police say if you see Martin John Rogers, call their non-emergency number at 301- 279-8000.
