Local Leaders To Start Bethesda-Chevy Chase Military Discount Program

Naval Support Activity Bethesda, home of Walter Reed Military Medical CenterA group of county, nonprofit and business leaders are hoping to compile a list of Bethesda and Chevy Chase businesses that offer military discounts, and perhaps find some that would like to start.

The Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Bethesda Urban Partnership, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center and Yellow Ribbon Fund, are starting a Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Military Discount Program.

The Chamber put out a questionnaire on Thursday asking what sorts of military and first responder discounts businesses offer now and looking for other businesses that are interested.

The plan is to list the businesses and discounts on the organizations’ websites.

Local leaders have said they hope to increase the connection between downtown Bethesda and the thousands of military personnel, veterans and staffers at Naval Support Activity Bethesda on Rockville Pike, home of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The Yellow Ribbon Fund, a wounded warrior nonprofit based in Woodmont Triangle, is encouraging restaurants and retailers to take part in the program to help welcome injured combat veterans at Walter Reed and their families.
