MCPS Could Change Rules On Sexual Orientation Lessons – The Board of Education on Tuesday will discuss moving away from scripted lessons with required phrasing on sexual orientation. The scripted lessons — which teachers say are ineffective — were put into place in 2005 after a federal judge stopped the school system’s lessons because the lessons didn’t offer the perspective of religions that consider homosexuality a sin. If the changes are made, scripted teaching of the topic would be gone by the start of next school year and sexual orientation would be taught to seventh grade classes instead of eighth grade classes. Federal Realty Wants Suggestions For Stores At Pike & Rose – Rockville-based developer Federal Realty is looking for your suggestions on events, amenities and retail for its Pike & Rose project at the former Mid-Pike Plaza in North Bethesda/White Flint. Federal posted the project on Popularise, a website that puts developer projects up for suggestions. [Popularise] [Friends of White Flint]

Whitman Students To Hold Vigil For Missing Nigerian Girls – A group of Walt Whitman High School students plans to hold a vigil at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the school for the more than 300 Nigerian school girls who were kidnapped by a terrorist group earlier this year. “Bring Back Our Girls” has become a popular Twitter hashtag and slogan over the past few weeks. A local news station and County Executive Isiah Leggett might attend the vigil.
