Police set up pedestrian stings

Monday - 4/14/2014, 5:00am  ET

WASHINGTON -- Be honest: Do you always stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk? Starting this week, if you don't it could cost you.

Montgomery County police are setting up pedestrian stings. Police officers in plain clothes will pose as pedestrians to see whether motorists stop.

BethesdaNow reports that a sting last week at Stanford Street and Wisconsin Avenue resulted in 24 citations for drivers.

The officers will be looking for jaywalkers, too.
