Two Bethesda restaurants on opposite sides of town are adding lunch menus starting in April.

Brickside Food & Drink (4866 Cordell Ave.) will start opening at 11 a.m. beginning on April 7 with a special lunch menu in Woodmont Triangle.

In addition to its regular menu of bar items and appetizers, chef Lisa Marie Frantz will offer a Smoked Mozzarella Caprese Panini ($12.95), Southwestern Fried Chicken Salad ($13.95), Grilled Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich ($13.95) and Watermelon Gazpacho ($6.95).

The lunch menu will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and puts Brickside in the mix of what’s become a very competitive block when it comes to capturing those looking for lunch.

Across the street is California Tortilla. Across Cordell Avenue’s intersection with Norfolk Avenue is Smashburger and Roof. There’s also neighbor Smoke BBQ and the soon-to-arrive Heckman’s Delicatessen. A Korean fried chicken restaurant is set to take over California Tortilla’s former space right next to Brickside.

“We opened a little over a year ago and wanted to get our feet firmly planted in the Bethesda community before we ventured into doing lunch,” Brickside co-owner Brian Vasile said.  Customers kept asking for it, almost demanding it, so we made the decision to give the people what they want.”

On Bethesda Row, Redwood Restaurant and Bar (7121 Bethesda Lane) is starting a new lunch concept of its own on April 7.

Executive chef Randy Mosteller will introduce a gourmet taco menu, to run Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. until May 15.

Tacos include Filet Mignon Barbacoa, Pork Belly, Rotisserie Chicken, Vegetarian and Seafood.

Redwood said it will have a contest on April 7 to kick off its “pop-up lunch concept.” The winner will get a chance at a taco party for 10 guests.
