Weekly Crime Report: Dec. 30 to Jan. 7

A New Year’s Eve robbery at the Georgetown Square Shopping Center leads this week’s 2nd District crime summary:

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 10400 block of Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda on Tuesday, 12/31 at 5:00 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.

Four vehicle-related thefts occurred overnight between Monday, 12/30 and Tuesday, 12/31. Three of the vehicles were entered without force. Purses and loose cash were targeted. Incidents occurred on the following streets: Albemarle Street, Blackstone Road, and Duvall Drive.

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 11400 block of Schuylkill Road in Rockville on Monday, 1/6 at approximately 12:45 a.m.

Arrested: Male, age 20, from Silver Spring; Male, age 21, from Silver Spring; Male, age 21, of an unknown address 

A commercial burglary occurred at Luna Apparel, 7232 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda on Thursday, 1/2 at 6:45 p.m. Unknown entry; property taken.

A commercial burglary occurred at the Bank of America, 6708 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda on Tuesday, 1/7 at approximately 3:15 a.m. Forced entry; nothing taken.

Five thefts from vehicles occurred in the 1800 block of East West Highway in Silver Spring between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, 1/4. Entry was forced and cash was taken.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 5600 block of Kirkside Drive in Chevy Chase on Saturday, 1/4 at approximately 4:30 a.m. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
