Kensington man killed in Rockville crash

WASHINGTON – A Kensington man was killed in a two-car collision in Rockville on Saturday afternoon.

The Montgomery County police say the crash happened at about 2:20 p.m. at Maryland Avenue and Great Falls Road.

Police say the collision happened when a Toyota Corolla heading west on Maryland Avenue tried to turn left onto Potomac Valley Road and was hit in the side by an Oldsmobile traveling east.

Irwin Bellamy, 89, of Kensington, the front passenger in the Toyota, was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, the police said. They added that Bellamy’s son, David Bellamy, 53, of Hanover, was also taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, Rachel Miller Dawson, 73, of Potomac, was not injured, police said.
