A Prince George’s County man on Wednesday was sentenced to 18 years in prison for three office burglaries in Montgomery County, including one each in downtown Bethesda and White Flint.
Police arrested Andre Antonio Henry, 30, of Brandywine in May for a string of more than a dozen office burglaries in Bethesda, the complex of office buildings on Rockville Pike near White Flint Mall and elsewhere in the county.
Henry pleaded guilty in August to three counts of second-degree burglary, each of which carries a recommended six-year sentence.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorneys Office, Henry left paperwork from an unrelated D.C. case at the scene of one of his Silver Spring burglaries. The paperwork listed Henry’s name. Police also found a digital picture frame stolen from the Silver Spring office in the place Henry was living in D.C.
“You can not come to Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville or anywhere in our county and rob our businesses. You will be found, you will be arrested and you will be locked up for a long, long time,” Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said in a prepared release.
The burglaries occurred between Jan. 28 and April 15.
Police believe Henry forced his way into the offices using a flathead screwdriver before stealing electronics and other property. Police said Henry stole a credit card during one burglary and used it to buy items.
The one-man crime spree played a part in 46 reported commercial office burglaries through April in the 2nd District, compared to 18 during the same stretch of time in 2012, according to 2nd District Police statistics. That’s a 155 percent spike in that category.
