Starting this week, the SHA will close down lanes each going each way, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., between Bradley Boulevard and Montgomery Avenue.

The $2.6 million, half-mile project will bring ADA compliant sidewalks, new traffic signals, pedestrian signals and drainage improvements. The work will last until next fall.

Next spring, crews will start closing up to two lanes in each direction overnight for resurfacing work.

The SHA says an average of 67,000 vehicles travel the stretch each day. The agency is advising drivers to add extra time to their trips.

The contractor for this section of the project is Ardent Company, LLC of McLean, Va. The SHA says it will maintain pedestrian access within the work zone, which may be loud and disruptive.
